Statement About the Work Displayed in the Gallery

The work displayed in these folders dates from the late 1980’s to the present. Each folder is theme based showing a comprehensive cross section of my artistic production in painting, drawing, three dimensional works, photography and collage. The work is predominantly about human relationships and experience. This comes from autobiographical sources and from my work as an art psychotherapist. By examining specific experience I hope to move towards achieving an insight into what it means to be a particular person in a particular situation. This might reveal some common truths, some universality.

About the Artist
I was born in 1958 in Kingston upon Hull East Yorkshire and studied Fine Art at Hull College of Higher Education (1977 – 1981) then at the New York State College of Ceramics, Sculpture programme (1982 – 1984) I trained as an Art Psychotherapist at Sheffield University (1985 – 1986) and as a Psychotherapist at the Westminster Pastoral Foundation, London (1993 -1997). From 1988 to 2013 I worked as an Art Psychotherapist in the National Health Service. I am now retired and living in Guildford, Surrey working as a full-time exhibiting artist and writer.
